SaRA Health has created a mobile platform designed to reduce recovery times for workers injured on the job.

The company is initially targeting industries that have a high number of workplace injuries, such as construction and manufacturing.

Each year, employers spend approximately $180 billion on workers’ compensation costs, and another $60 billion on insurance.

When recovering from workplace injuries, many employees don’t complete exercises assigned by their surgeon or physical therapist. That’s because they can’t follow the recommended program at home.

This leads to longer recovery times, which costs employers money and keeps employees from working.

SaRA Health provides a solution to this problem with its platform called the Simplifying Recovery Assistant.

The platform gives physical therapists the ability to create and film exercises for patients. They can also monitor a patient’s progress using SaRA’s online dashboard, and change their home recovery program as needed.

Patients receive guidance through mobile notifications and are assigned a specific health-related “score.” This proprietary assessment was developed in conjunction with physical therapists at Mayo Clinic, and helps motivate and educate patients on their home exercise program.

SaRA Health doesn’t charge physical therapists or patients for its service. Instead, it markets to employers, specifically those with high rates of workers likely to be injured on the job.

SaRA Health launched in January 2017. Since then, the company has built two versions of its platform, completed the Techstars Kansas City accelerator program, and established a pipeline of more than $5 million in annual recurring revenue.

In addition, SaRA has partnered with Bardavon Health Innovations to complete a patient outcomes study within 6 to 8 months of raising funds. The study will include 100 people and aim to scientifically prove that SaRA reduces recovery times, improves patient outcomes, and reduces the cost of workers’ comp claims.
