A System to Diagnose Brain Diseases
BrainScanology is changing how MRIs are analyzed.
It’s developed a brain-disease diagnostic system. This system analyzes MRI brain scans to track the risks of neurological disorders including Bipolar Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease.
This company was founded by a computational biologist who invented a breakthrough method for analyzing colon cancer screenings. BrainScanology measures a brain’s area, volume, and shape, while the current system in use measures only a brain’s area and volume.
Notably, M&A activity in the medical imaging space includes some blockbuster deals. GE recently acquired Amersham PLC, a medical imaging company, for nine-and-a-half billion dollars. And in 2019, Fujifilm acquired Hitachi’s medical imaging business for one-and-a-half billion dollars.
