In the U.S., snowsports like skiing and snowboarding generate nearly $4 billion a year.

But while there are more than 100 indoor skiing and snowboarding facilities around the world, none exist in America. This presents a tremendous opportunity, and Alpine-X is seizing it.

This company is creating indoor snowsports resorts that provide authentic skiing and snowboarding experiences. In addition to ski slopes and courses, each resort will have an upscale hotel, restaurants/bars, and retail shops. As Alpine-X says, guests can have a great time “whether they’re on the slopes, playing in the snow, or drinking a beer at the base of the mountain.”

Alpine-X’s team has extensive experience creating this type of resort. CEO John Emery was CEO of Great Wolf Resorts, a hotel resort chain opened in 1997 that reached $325 million in annual revenue. In 2019, Blackstone, an investment group, acquired a 65% stake in Great Wolf Resorts for nearly $3 billion.

Alpine-X has chosen the site for its first resort, Fairfax Peak in the Washington D.C. area. The company has submitted a zoning package and aims to begin construction in 2023. The resort is set to open in either 2024 or 2025.
